increase slime spawn rate in minecraft?

Question

I have just recently found a chunk that slimes spawn on, however, I've only managed to spawn one slime. I do understand that the chance to spawn one is low, and their spawn is affected by moon phase, but i was wondering what i could to to increase spawn. My setup now is a 17x17 area. (17 because i wasn't positive what coordinates the chunk started and ended on.) The area does have torches to prevent other mob spawn and my y coordinate is at 11 where the spawn pad is. If any one could help, that would be wonderful. thanks :)

Do NOT remove the torches, just dont have them on the floor, slimes will spawn in high light areas, if u lower the light lvl, u will have other hostile mobs spawn which will lower the rates. Try to check above your spawn area and light up any caves u find, this will increase your spawn rate

remove torches, slimes like a dark or dim area. also use console commands to automatically spawn them
