Can I turn my PC into a PS3?

I'm sure this question has been asked lots, but I'm asking it again...

My PC is quite powerful, PS3's use the same components as PC's so is it possible?

OK so I would have to install the PS3 OS onto my PC... Possibly remove windows completely! or have both??

Have a disc drive that could read PS3 games (if needed)

And get some sort of Bluetooth receiver (if PS3 controllers are Bluetooth) for the controllers.

Can it be done?

no you cant

wont happen until an emulator is created which will take along while because most of the emulators need a computer thats 8 times more powerful than the console its emulating to work properly

lets start with the basics

a ps3 has a Powerpc cpu (RISC) which is very different than x86 cpus that are found in most computers

the only modern console that has an emulator that works with a pc is the wii emulator ( dolphin emulator)

so dont hold ur breath ull need about 5 years until a ps3 emulator comes along

There is an emulator (of course not bug free) but you would need a powerful pc indeed. More like a powerful cpu for intel i would say i5-i7 series.

For the emulator you need an OS for sure so keep windows. Note that the emulator itself is a Program not an OS which you will have to boot prior to windows.

Ps3 games hm mm yes you would need the disc containing the games but usually (like 100%) you need the disc to play a game with the ps3 console. You could though try downloading a game and then mounting it with either poweriso or another similar (.iso) software.

For the controller settings i have no idea.. You can of course use a controller for instance xbox360 controller made from microsoft specifically for the pc. Bluetooth receiver and so on would require quiet a lot of configuration if u ask me.

This will not work.

Your talking about reverse engineering an entire PC to play as a PS3. Engineering doesn't work like that. What you are saying is basically like me saying "If I took an Xbox 360 game and put it into my PS2, would it work?" This isn't possible, even for a master hacker. There are so many factors and things that could go wrong that I cannot even list them.

The emulator suggestion is a good one, but it wouldn't work, because most PC's can barely play PS2 games, let alone games from the strongest console on the market out there.

Sony has blocked operating Linux on PS3s on the grounds that an replace. PS3 makes use of a cellular processor that may no longer run domicile windows even with the actuality that if jailbroken. Linux runs on some thing, which contains cellular processors. One decision for domicile windows on PS3 is virtualisation...you may want to theoretically run linux in a older (unupdated PS3), run a digital device application (e.g. utilising qemu) and then run domicile windows in this digital device. although the performance will be garbage.

possibly, but it would probably be cheaper and easier just to buy a ps3. And you would end up without a pc.
