Tidus came from Dream Zanarkand, which is a summoning (by Yu Yevon 1000 years ago) from fayths' dream on top of Mount Gagazet. At the end of of FFX, all the fayths went to the Farplane and thus Dream Zanarkand (and Tidus) disappeared.
However, at the end of FFX-2 (if you complete all the conditions required), fayths brought back Tidus to be united with Yuna.
